Day 17-18-19 Back Online

Sorry not been keeping you up dated, at least you all know I’m across Louisiana now in to Mississippi and what I would regard as on the home straights, I’ve been flying through here as quick as I could and not really thinking about much apart from riding.

I didn’t know how I would feel about riding down the “The” road and part of me just wanted to get across Louisiana as quick as possible so I was trying not to think about it. It kind of felt like as soon as I get across the state I could sit back and bring it home, it’s like one of my mountains that I needed to get over and now I’m over it.

I did wonder and had doubts if I was doing the right thing as we set off in the morning, I’ve only had one puncture all trip then as I was heading down the road from where we had stopped the night I had another, I just couldn’t get the tube in and the tyre wouldn’t go on right, then that tube blew… Question question, doubts doubts ???? I wondered if someone was trying to tell me something… got it sorted and pressed on by now i was just a nervous.

I stopped at the service station like we did last time, I thought about not riding down the road and actually getting Jonny to drive me then all of a sudden I found myself riding up the slip road and down the hard shoulder. The road was a lot quieter, I didn’t have a flash back as such but it did all come back to me. As you come over one of the bridges there a sign saying New Orleans 52miles, it was just after this I remember looking at my speedo and thinking 26mph means two hours that meant we would of been in town by 18:30, it was around 16:30 or just before, shortly after this we were both sliding down the road, remembering this meant I could actually stand on the bit of road that I think we were sliding down..

It felt so good to go past it and the rest of the day felt like a whole new chapter, time to crack on.. I suppose the only problem now is that i feel like I’ve finished, I don’t really feel like I’ve got a lot left to do but there is.

the last couple of days seem to have been really long and I don’t seem to have got as far as I would like each day having said that I don’t think I could off planned to day as well as it has turned out.

Meeting up with Lanny and Martha was really nice, the food they brought for us was amazing, i could eat that all day.. Really good to see you guys, thank you so much for making us feel so welcome.

Anyway time to crack on, lets get this done.. next question??? how quick can I do the rest.

    Hi James,
Must’ve been massive to floor it through the scene of last year’s accident- well done.
Still showing no mercy to the mileage either!
