Big “Back Operation” on Thursday

Well tomorrow the big day is finally here. This will be a turning point and assuming everything goes well I can start my physiotherapy and start planning a date to go back to the UK.

So far due to my broken L2 vertebrae I have had very limited movement, basically restricted to lying on my back 24 hours a day, which has become boring and frustrating. So I am actually looking forward to the operation.

It takes place at 2pm on Thursday (8pm) in UK and will take 4-5 hours.

Whilst writing I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful messages of support. Caroline, Tyler, Summer and myself have been literally inundated with cards, balloons, chocolates and presents. As well phone calls, voice messages, text messages, emails, facebook messages etc, etc. all wishing us a safe return and confirming we are in peoples thoughts and prayers.

We have also been amazed at the kindness shown to us by people locally. People have provided us with restaurant vouchers, taken us for meals and invited us to stay at their homes. Some have offered to pay for our hotel (luckily covered by insurance) or even lend us their car! Everyone we have met has been so kind, generous and thoughtful.

Fundraising continues.

I am extremely pleased to see that even though James and I are out of action at the moment the fundraising is continuing.

Gary Redman has already began his 700 mile bike ride from Rugby to Paris and back. He has also set up a blog http://nowrecruitment.blogspot.com/2010/07/hi-everyone-ive-set-up-this-blog-to.html

and a “Just Giving” page for donations which already has £8000 donated!

The whole of the Estate Agency Industry has also rallied round in support by setting up another “Just Giving” page which has over £6000 pledged.  http://www.justgiving.co.uk/eaf-seannewman

Other fundraising events include coffee mornings, bag packing at ASDA this Saturday (volunteers required), Tae Kwon Do event and various others.

Thank you so much to all those who have been involved, taken part and donated it really is appreciated and will save lives.

I may be a bit drousy tomorrow so it may be a day or two before I am able to blog. For anyone wishing to know more about my operation do a search on google for “vertebrae fusion”.

Good luck today Sean and all of us at the NAEA are looking forward to hearing that your physio can start to get you back on your feet. Glad the local Realtors are helping out and sorry it took us a few days to get your contact details to them.
